The German Spits family is divided into 5 types:
i.Wolfsspitz or Keeshond
ii.Grossspitz or Giant Spitz
iii.Mittelspitz or Medium Spitz
iv.Kleinspitz or Small Spitz
v.Zwergspitz or Dwarf Spitz
Although the Zwerg {Pomeranian} and the Keeshond are part of the German Spitz family most people see them as a separate breed and may not know about the others. As a matter of fact, a lot of people confuse the Klein {Small} with the Pomeranian {Zwerg/Dwarf}!
Grossspitz can be white, black or brown. They tend to be around 40lbs and are around 17" tall. My baby happens to be a black Grossspitz and she's a tad bit overweight at 45lbs. What can I say, she loves food. LOL.
